CALCARIUS - NU LITR ORANGE

Calcarius are based in Apricena, in the northern region of Gargano, Puglia, where producers Valentina Passalacqua and Danilo Marcucci oversee a farm comprising 80 hectares of vines, fruit, and vegetables. After years of studying the land, Valentina decided she should isolate the plots of their vineyards characterised exclusively by Kimmeridgian Calcareous soils. From this Calcarius was born. Terroir driven, mineral wines. Totally unique indigenous varieties. Renowned for making some of the most smashable wines in the Natural Wine scene, they have become a cult favourite far and wide.

Manually harvested Falanghina grapes are destemmed and fermented using native yeasts. Maceration on the skins for 5 days in open vats with manual cap breaking. Matured in stainless steel vats. Unfined, unfiltered with a small amount of sulphur added before bottling. Very fresh and fragrant. Packed with juicy peach, mandarin, orange and stone fruit flavours. Hints of floral honey and spice with salinity on the palate. A real crowd pleaser, and in a litre bottle too!
